Creative territory

VEF Culture palace is a talent forge, proud of almost half a hundred of its creative collectives, where the talents were upbrought by VEF workers and their children, which nowadays means their children and grandchildren. VEF Culture palace choirs, dancing troupes, studios and clubs offer wide and various opportunities for developing creative skills of everyone. Here the generation succession arises, and people find this place to be a creative territory, where they can create art, experiment, give and get joy.

Many great and well-known artists began their creative work at the groups and studios of VEF Culture palace. Ilze Melnalksne and Ināra Kolmane attended the children’s theatre under Romāns Grabovskis. Ivars Cinkuss was singing at a children vocal ensemble “Saulīte” under Aldona Kalniņa, but brothers Oskars and Raimonds Petrauskis – at a children vocal ensemble “Momo”, and Marija Naumova began her singer career at a children pop ensemble “Rondīno”.

VEF Culture palace became home for an ensemble “Rīgas pantomīma” created by director Roberts Ligers, which involved Juris Strenga, Ilze Vazdika, Uldis Vazdiks, Jānis Anmanis, Modris Tenisons, Laima Eglīte, Alvis Hermanis, Ilmārs Rimšēvics, Karīna Tatarinova, Ieva Kepe, Andrejs Možeiko and many others.

Pop and entertainment music bands involved Laima Vaikule, Jānis Krūzītis, Andrejs Lihtenbergs, Ilona Stepanova, Vilnis Rakstiņš, Arvīds Luste and others. VEF theatre involved such actors as Edgars Girgensons, Mudīte Šneidere, Vilnis Beķeris, Ivars Brakovskis.

Many professionals have also actively collaborated with the people of VEF Culture palace – directors Mihails Kublinskis, Arnolds Liniņš, Oļģerts Šalkonis, Aloizs Brenčs, scenographers Gunārs Zemgals, Dailis Rožlapa, Ilmārs Blumbergs, Andris Merkmanis.
