From September 11 to 14, the International Amateur Theatre Festival RIGA PLAYS THEATRE 2025 will take place at the VEF Culture Palace, bringing together theatres from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia, and Bulgaria.

It is a story about family, desire for love and freedom from prejudices. After her husband’s death, the family of Bernarda Alba goes into mourning. Bernarda’s five daughter are subject to the strict rules and control set by their mother. The rift among sisters ,caused by their love and passion for the same man, the fiance of Bernarda’s eldest daughter, Angustias, aggravates the situation. When Angustia’s chance for engagement appears, power starts slipping from Bernarda’s hands. Despite its dramatic motives, the play has emotional and romantic motives, and a will prompt contemplation on women’s feelings in a space where there are no men.
