Cultural & Social Activities
VEF Culture Palace has always been and remains the largest Latvian cultural establishment with many artistic collectives and studios (48 at present) where pre-school children, teenagers, middle age and senior generation persons are engaged. The Culture Palace can be proud of creative and multi-shaped work of collective leaders professional artists and teachers, as well as achievements of their collectives at the state sponsored shows, competitions and international festivals.
There are 76 employees at the culture center now: 4 administration representatives, 13 technical employees and 59 service personnel. Approximately 3,000 participants of age between 3 and 80 are engaged in collectives, ensembles and small groups. Culture Board of Riga City Council funds salaries of conductors, teachers and leaders of the collectives (65 persons in total), finances large- scale cultural events. Employee wages, public utilities, taxes and building maintenance costs are earned and funded by the staff themselves.
